Sarah Bowker

I have to thank my mom for introducing me to the practices of yoga. I started going to Hatha classes with her 10 years ago. After a few years of Hatha yoga practice, I discovered the Ashtanga Yoga practice while traveling in Australia nursing. Eventually I started to arrange my nursing schedule around my yoga practices realizing that I needed to make a change in my life.

I am not nursing in the traditional hospital environment at the moment, however I feel blessed to be on the health promotion side of life and use my background in nursing to help students move through the Ashtanga series safely, as they build their own understanding and awareness of the practice.

Practicing and studying this ancient tradition of yoga has really enriched my life. Yoga is an expression in everything that we do. Each trip to India to study with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois & Sharath Rangaswami has brought me closer to myself and enriches every part of my life. Yoga has taught me to find equanimity in all things. Each breath is a new opportunity for me to observe my body and mind. Yoga is something that requires practice and with practice comes many rewards…possibilities become endless.

I want to thank all my teachers in my life and in particular Rameen, my life partner & best friend who inspires me everyday.
