This is a 200 hour teacher intensive that will run Monday-Friday starting JUNE 30-AUGUST 8, 2008

This course is open to yoga teachers, aspiring teachers & students who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of the Ashtanga yoga system.

Taught by Rameen Peyrow
with highly qualified Anatomy specialist: Susi Hately Aldous

 

FACULTY:

Rameen Peyrow has been teaching ashtanga yoga for 10 years. In 2002 he was authorized to teach by Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. Rameen has a holistic approach to the ashtanga practice with a strong focus on meditation & yoga philosophy.

Rameen offers a comprehensive teacher intensive program that will prepare teachers & aspiring teachers to introduce & teach Ashtanga yoga safely and effectively.

Susi Hately Aldous, expert in anatomy, will be teaching the anatomy portion of this workshop. Well known for her book: Anatomy & Asana, Susi’s presentation on anatomy is simple to understand & very clear see: www.functionalsynergy.com

Additional faculty members:

Geha Gonthier
has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga since 1993. In addition to teaching yoga she holds a degree for movement therapy, a diploma for acupuncture and practices wholistic medicine.

As a yoga instructor and health practitioner she offers a grounded understanding of the human body in regards to physical as well as spiritual anatomy, physiology, movement analogy, and breath awareness. She is committed to passing on her in-depth knowledge to train aspiring teachers to provide a gentle, strong, meditative and safe space for their future students.

INVESTMENT:
$2500 +GST

*this does not include require readings & there will be an additional fee of $160 for the anatomy portion of the workshop

REQUIREMENTS:
It is suggested that you have a regular yoga practice

We are accepting applications now for the summer intensive.

It is strongly recommended that you have your CPR and first aid training before or by completion of this RYS 200.

SAMPLE DAILY SCHEDULE:
(9:30-4pm daily)

9:30am start: Discussion & Lecture
10:00 Asana Practice, Meditation & Pranayama
1:00 Short Break
1:30 Principles & Lecture
4:00 finished

1. TECHNIQUES & PRACTICE:
-Including daily asana practice, pranayama & meditation practice & training
-Breath is the key (oujaii pranayama), Drishti & Bandhas
-Breakdown of Suyranamaskara, standing & seated postures
-Sanskrit names of the postures will be introduced

2. TEACHING METHODOLOGY:
-includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting & correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, business aspects of yoga
-finding your voice
-moving through postures safely & preventing injuries

3. ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY:
-Anatomy and physiology: includes both physical and energetic anatomy (chakras, koshas, nadis, bandhas)

4. YOGA PHILOSPHY, LIFESTYLE & ETHICS:
-The 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga
-Yoga Sutras of Patanjali & The Hathayogapradipika
-Devotion & Karma yoga
-Heart of Yoga
-Sattvic diet & lifestyl
-living yoga

5. PRACTICUM:

-Class observation, practice teaching & assisting
-Hands on adjustments
-oral presentation skills
