Pre-requisites
It is suggested that you have a minimum of 2 year regular practice in any style of yoga.
We will review applications on a first come first serve basis. Space is limited. Early registration is suggested.
Purchase & read all books listed on required readings (some available at The Yoga Loft).
It is strongly recommended that you have your CPR and first aid training before or by completion of this RYS 200.

CURRICULUM
1. TECHNIQUES & PRACTICE: (100 hours)
-Including daily asana practice, pranayama & meditation practice
-Breath is the key. Introducing Pranayama techniques
-Putting together posture sequences
-Sanskrit names of the postures will be introduced -principles of alignment and adjustments will be taught
2. TEACHING METHODOLOGY: (28 hours)
-includes principles of demonstration, observation, assisting & correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher - business aspects of yoga
-finding your voice
-moving through postures safely & preventing injuries
3. ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY: (21 hours)
-Anatomy and physiology: includes both physical and energetic anatomy (chakras, koshas, nadis, bandhas)
- for the physical anatomy portion of the workshop, we will have expert in Anatomy, Matthew van der Giessen teaching.
4. YOGA PHILOSPHY, LIFESTYLE & ETHICS: (36 hours)
-The 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga
-Yoga Sutras of Patanjali & The Hathayogapradipika
-Devotion & Karma yoga
-Heart of Yoga
-Sattvic diet & lifestyle
-living yoga
5. PRACTICUM: (15 hours)
-Class observation, practice teaching & assisting
-Hands on adjustments
-oral presentation skills
